Propellants Plants

BOWAS manufactures complete plants and machinery for the production of single, double, triple-base propellants spherical powders and all the related equipment for the manufacture of combustible cases and accessories.

The plants includes NC dehydration, mixing of raw materials with the additives and solvents to obtain the gelatinisation. After the kneading operation the mixture is collected and transferred to the presses for extrusion process, cutting, then solvent removal operations, soaking, drying and blending. Depending on the type of final product the process is different and includes special equipment to handle NC/NG paste or Nitro-guanidine in multi-base propellants and to prevent danger due to NG vapours.

After production, depending on the type of propellant, the powder can be subject to further surface treatments; then a proper mixing is carried out for the preparation of commercial lots.
